History of Sri Kubera Veera Anjaneyar Temple

Sri Kubera Veera Anjaneyar Temple
Aishwarya Kshetram Navagraha Kottai, Kamakshipuram, Walajapet
The Kubera Veera Anjaneyar temple is a powerful center
that fulfills dharmic wishes. One can attain wealth like Kubera
by worshipping this swamy. The Puranas say this place is known
as Agastheeshwaram because the great Rishi Agasthya did Shiva
Pooja here. Hanuman temples exist as “Digbandhana” or as the
protector of the four directions-East, West, North and South for
hundreds of years. On these principles, this Kubera Veera An-
janeyar temple is located in the North, which is the direction
of Kubera. The ancient murti is “swayambhu” or self-manifest-
ed with his tail (decorated with a bell) over his head, with one
hand showing “abhaya mudra” or the assurance to his devotees
to be fearless and also has a beautiful “gada” made of flowers. He
blesses those who seek Him with what they wish. These bless-
ings are being enhanced with an added pratishtha of around 221
crores of written (likhita) Rama japam. Another speciality of this
temple is the pratishtha of Rama padukas near this beautiful
murti of Hanuman. It is said by “taking darshan of Rama Paduka
all sins are destroyed”.
The king Krishna Deva Raya in the times of Tenali Rama had
experienced many troubles. He found it was because of his Rahu
dasha (18 years). In order to find a solution, his Guru Shree Vy-
asa Raya (Also the Guru of Raghavendra Swamy) advised him
to worship in Hanuman temples wherever the king visited and
conquered (Vijayam). Also, to overcome the troubles of Rahu da-
sha and have his wishes smoothly fulfilled, the Guru told him to
do pratishtha of Naga devatas and sincerely pray to Rahu and
Ketu. Following his Guru’s advice, the king offered puja to Hanu-
man at several temples and did pratishtha of Naga devata there
On these lines, he came to this temple, offered puja and he did
pratishtha of 3 nagas here-Rahu Ketu naga, Kalinga narthana
Santana Krishna naga and Chandra Kirana naga in this temple,
according to the Sthala Purana.
Therefore, if devotees sincerely offer prayers here with
bhakti, Anjaneya removes their Navagraha dosham and Rahu
Ketu dosham. As it is believed that navagrahas reside in the tail
of Anjaneya, the navahgraha kottai pratishtha here with nava-
grahas with their wives on their vahanas would bless us with
only good. Another speciality is the temple of Navagraha Gane-
sha and the temples of the naga devatas that were built by King
Krishnadeva Rayar near the temple tank. The Mahamandapam
has 16 pillars for the 16 types of wealth we need in life. There
are unique 108 sculptures all around the temple that cannot be
seen anywhere else. These include murtis of scenes of Ramayana
from the birth of Rama up and the Kandas like the Sundarakanda
and Rama Pattabhishekam in the 16-pillared mandapam.
Temple sannidhis:
There is a separate sannidhanam to Hanuman,
Lakshmana with Sita Ramachandra. Lakshmi Narasim-
ha with Prahlada and Sudarshana (Chakkrathazhwar)
with Shatkona Jwala Chakram have sannidhis too. Next
is the Navagraha Kottai with 9 separate sannidhis to
navagrahas with their wives on their vahanas. And There are
ashtanaga mandapam, 27 nakshatra murtis, and devatas of the
12 rashis. There is also the moolavar of Kan Drishti Ganapathy,
the Ganesha who removes all evil eyes. There are the madapalli
(kitchen) and the yaaga shala. Every day, nitya yaagam, pariha-
ra poojas, special yaagas, prayashchitta poojas/homas, Ganap-
athy homam, marriages, shashtiabhdapoorthi, marriage at the
60th/70th/80th years, ayush homam, navagraha homam, san-
tana homam, vivaha homam all can be performed in the yaaga
shala.

Next is Bangaru Kamakshi-the ruler of all navagraha where
27 nakshatras and 12 rashis all worship her lotus feet. Every one
can worship Kanchi Kamakshi who blesses all with the love of
the mother. The Aishwarya mandapam also has Ardhanaresh-
wara Vrishabha. We also get the great darshan of Shanmukha
Shatru samhara Subramanya murthy with Valli and Devayanai
on an elephant vahanam. Next is the commander-in-chief of the
army of Amba or Varahi Devi, Shree Chandika Parameshwari
who is Shree Durga, Lakshmi and Saraswati, on either side is Ma-
halakshmi Thayar and Mahasaraswati. Next is the kshetrapalaka
and swamy of time, Mahakala Bhairavar in the Ishana (North-
East) corner. We get darshan of Shiva with Adhigara Nandi. Then
is Kamakshi swaroopam Kanchi Maha Periyava in front of Ambal
in dhyana roopam (meditating) as the Jagadguru. We then get
darshan of Pathala Sai Baba and the gopuram of the moolasthan-
am of Kubera Veera Anjaneyar which surely gives us happiness
and mental peace.
Then we come to the “Tataka Pradashinam Tadangal Ni-
varanam” or by doing pradakshina to the tank all troubles are
removed. By taking darshan or doing pradakshina of the tataka
one can get the blessings of all the 33 crore devatas, (Pathala
Ganga Teertham) the sthala vriksham vilwa tree gives darshan
near the goshala. We then have the specialities like Maharatha
Utsava Mandapam, dashavatara darshanam and ashta linga
pradakshinam.
Therefore, when devotees stay in this temple for 48 min-
utes/48 seconds, remain seated and offer pujas sincerely then
their dharmic wishes/prayers will be fulfilled.
Shree Kanchi Maha Periyava Swamigal would advise those
who seek him for answers to their troubles to do japam of the
maha mantram Shree Rama Jayam (Japam would be through
chanting the mantram or writing the mantram or likhita japam).
It is explained that Shree means the kataksham or blessings of
Lakshmi Devi. The word Rama includes the ashtakshara man-
tram (Om Namo Narayanaya) and the panchakshara mantram
(Namah Shivaya) which combines the blessings of Shiva and
Vishnu. This temple has Shiva anugraham with Vinayaka, Muru-
gan, Devi, Bhairava and Navagrahas along with Vishnu anugra-
ham with Mahalakshmi, Narasimha, etc.
Jayam means victory and here jayam is in the context of each
devotee getting their correct/dharmic wishes fulfilled or victo-
ry. Keeping this in mind, Kubera Veera Anjaneyar temple has
the pratishtha of crores of Rama naama and has the structure
of a Shiva and Vishnu tem ple. In the Vishnu Sahasranaamam,
it is said in the “Shree Rama Rama….Rama naama varanane”
shlokam 3 times that one gets the benefits and blessings of do-
ing parayanam of Vishnu sahasranaamam when one chants the
Rama naama three times. This is victory or jayam!
Therefore, devotees who come to Kubera Veera Anjaneyar
temple and chant the mantram Shree Ramajayam 108 times or
1008 times, will get victory in all aspects of life.
